机构沿革与命名变更

Founding History and Name Change
The Deutsche Rosengesellschaft e.V. (formerly Verein Deutscher Rosenfreunde) was founded on 28 September 1883 in Hamburg, with 140 founding members. The initiative grew out of the work of a horticultural teacher from Wittstock, who circulated questionnaires to 172 German rose nurseries and compiled the first Rangliste der edelsten Rosen; the third edition in 1883 drew 328 respondents. In 1903 the society established the Vereinsrosarium in Sangerhausen (today Europa-Rosarium Sangerhausen), and in 1935 founded Germany’s first rose research institute there. The Deutsches Rosarium in Dortmund’s Westfalenpark was added in 1968 in cooperation with the city. In 2024 the association was renamed Deutsche Rosengesellschaft e.V. and now operates at rosen gesellschaft.de.
Statutes, Mission and Field of Activity
Its statutes define the association’s role as preserving, deepening and disseminating knowledge about the rose; coordinating an extensive network of regional Freundeskreise, Rosarien and Rosengärten; offering horticultural advice to amateur and advanced growers; and representing German rose interests in international bodies. The society oversees matters relating to the Allgemeine Deutsche Rosenneuheitenprüfung (ADR) and serves as Germany’s national member within the World Federation of Rose Societies (WFRS).
Regional Chapters and Volunteer Network
Thirty-nine regional Rosenfreundeskreise span all sixteen federal states and are run by local volunteers who organise monthly lectures, garden visits and study groups on cultivation and companion planting. Contact persons and event schedules are listed on the society’s website by Bundesland, and visitors are advised to confirm attendance with the local chapter before travelling. During the winter months, monthly Zoom talks supplement regional programmes, and the society maintains a continuous social-media presence with chapter news and cultivation articles.
Educational Events and International Outreach
The Rosen-Akademie is the association’s flagship education programme; the sixth edition runs 14-16 August 2026 at the Bildungsstätte Gartenbau in Grünberg and is open to members and external enthusiasts. The Rosenkongress 2024 was held in Bad Wörishofen, whose 10,000 m² Kurpark Rosengarten contains 6,000 rose bushes of more than 550 varieties, including nearly all ADR-awarded cultivars. The society is also linked with the rosaria at Zweibrücken, Forst (Lausitz), Uetersen and Mainau, and represents Germany within the WFRS. The next Weltrosenkongress took place in May 2025 in Fukuyama, Japan.
Publications and Rose-Culture Outreach
The association launched the Rosenzeitung in 1886, the first German rose journal; today the quarterly Rosenbogen is mailed to subscribers through the membership programme. The Rosenjahrbuch is published each year (the 2022 volume focused on biodiversity, and the 140th-anniversary double volume 2023/2024 covers the society’s networks, Freundeskreise, rosaria histories, 75 years of ADR testing, European breeding and digitisation). Co-publications include the award-winning Rosenwelten (DGG book prize and WFRS Literary Award), Rosen in deutschen Gärten and the Ratgeber guidebook.
