插花国际 Ikebana International – 跨六大流派的全球花道团体

创立背景与宗旨

插花国际（Ikebana International, I.I.）由已故的艾伦·戈登·艾伦（Ellen Gordon Allen）于 1956 年在美国创立，最初的设想是通过对大自然的共同热爱把世界各国的人联系起来，让花道（ikebana）成为跨文化的纽带。协会的宗旨是”Friendship through Flowers”（以花传谊），欢迎任何接受这一目标的个人或组织加入。如今协会已扩展到 44 个国家与地区，下设约 140 个分会，会员约 7,000 人。

组织形态与运行机制

插花国际是一个非营利性文化组织，自创立起就几乎完全由志愿者管理与运营，至今没有全职行政人员，会员费是日常运转的主要资金来源。协会的业务年度为每年 7 月 1 日至次年 6 月 30 日，会籍分为两类：Chapter Member（分会会员）需要联系所在地区的分会办理入会手续；Individual Member（个人会员）直接向总部会员部提交入会申请。

流派与传统日本艺术

插花国际本身不教授也不背书任何单一的花道流派，而是把日本传统插花里多种风格的代表性流派汇聚在一起：池坊（IKENOBO）、草月流（SOGETSU）、小原流（OHARA）、未生流（MISHO）、一葉式（ICHIYO）、嵯峨御流（SAGA GORYU）。每个流派在章法上各有侧重——有的强调古典程式，有的鼓励自由造型，也有两者兼收——成员通过分会月会、示范会、展览、workshop 与集市活动彼此交流花艺心得。

出版物与世界大会

协会每年向会员寄送三期《Ikebana International》季刊，会员还可以在线查阅《Sakura News》和各分会的《Chapter Activities》通讯。会员有资格参加 Ikebana International World Conventions（世界大会，每四年举办一次，第 12 届已于 2022 年 7 月在日本召开）以及各 Regional Conferences（区域性会议）。荣誉顾问服部悦子（Mrs. Etsuko Hattori）于 2021 年 11 月 16 日录制的访谈视频”Reflecting on the History of Ikebana International”由 Creative Plant Inc. 拍摄，记录了协会早期的故事。

Founding Background and Mission

Ikebana International (I.I.) was founded in 1956 by the late Ellen Gordon Allen, whose original vision was to unite people around the world through a shared love of nature and the practice of ikebana. The association’s motto remains “Friendship through Flowers,” and it welcomes any individual or organization that accepts this goal. Today the society spans 44 countries and areas, with approximately 140 chapters and around 7,000 members.

Organizational Structure and Operations

Ikebana International is a nonprofit cultural organization that has been administered almost entirely by volunteers since its founding and continues to have no full-time administrative staff. Membership fees are the main support for its operations. The business year runs from July 1 to June 30. Membership is offered in two categories: Chapter Member (joining through a local chapter) and Individual Member (applying directly to the headquarters membership department).

Schools and Traditional Japanese Arts

Ikebana International does not teach or endorse any single style of ikebana. Instead, the association brings together representative schools of traditional Japanese flower arrangement: Ikenobo (IKENOBO), Sogetsu (SOGETSU), Ohara (OHARA), Misho (MISHO), Ichiyo (ICHIYO), and Saga Goryu (SAGA GORYU). Members engage with classical, free-style, and blended approaches through chapter meetings, demonstrations, exhibitions, workshops, fairs, and other activities.

Publications and World Conventions

Members receive three issues of the Ikebana International magazine each year and have online access to past issues of Sakura News and the Chapter Activities newsletter. Members are eligible to participate in Ikebana International World Conventions (held every four years; the 12th edition was held in July 2022 in Japan) and in Regional Conferences. Honorary Advisor Mrs. Etsuko Hattori recorded the interview video “Reflecting on the History of Ikebana International” with Creative Plant Inc. on November 16, 2021, recounting the society’s early days.

Membership Benefits and How to Join

Members receive three annual issues of the magazine, online access to past newsletters, eligibility to participate in Ikebana International World Conventions and Regional Conferences, and the right to join any chapter worldwide and take part in chapter monthly meetings, demonstrations, exhibitions, workshops, fairs, and activities.
