About the Company and Its History
Founded in 1930 by the Ruf family, the nursery has been continuously family-run for four generations. The third-generation owners Werner Ruf and Sabine Ruf took over in 1993 and converted the production to organic methods in 1994, joining the Bioland federation in 1995. In 2022 the fourth-generation owners Manuel Ruf and Barbara Kretz assumed management of the nursery, while continuing to plan a full relocation with outdoor raised beds and a constructed wetland for water treatment.
Variety and Product System
The nursery’s core assortment covers historical, shrub, climbing, rambler, ground-cover, miniature, standard-stem and solitary roses, together with clematis, perennials, herbs, bulbs and flowering shrubs. Plants are offered as A-grade bare-root roses (October to mid-April), 3- or 4-litre container roses, and 10- or 15-litre specimen or standard-stem roses. In addition to ornamental plants, the on-site bakery produces rose-blossom tea, jam, syrup, rose-flavoured ice cream, lemonade and pastries using the nursery’s own flowers.

Sales combine an on-site Rosenlädchen shop, a year-round organic café inside the English-style greenhouse, and an online Shopify store shipping bare-root and potted roses within the European Union (no shipping to non-EU countries).
