学会概况
芬兰树木学会（Dendrologian Seura，瑞典语名 Dendrologiska Sällskapet）成立于 1969 年，是芬兰国内专门研究木本植物的非营利学术团体，总部设于赫尔辛基大学植物博物馆。学会宗旨是促进本土及在芬兰成功栽培的外国木本植物的认知、试验与推广，覆盖自然与景观管理、公园与花园营造以及林木培育多个方向，与政府机构、研究单位和同行组织保持长期合作。
组织与会员
学会现有约千余名正式会员，会员构成以业余爱好者为主，也包括林业、园艺与植物学领域的专业人员。学会是芬兰科学学会理事会（Tieteellisten seurain valtuuskunta）的成员之一，定位为非政治性、非营利的全国性学术团体，会员通过缴纳年费即可加入。学会下设多个地区与专题分会，包括海梅分会、科沃拉分会、奥卢分会、Pomologian 果树学分会、Quercus 栎属分会以及 Rhododendron 杜鹃花分会等。
学术活动
学会每年组织多次面向会员与公众的学术活动，包括专题讲座、研讨会、栽培课程、公园导览与林木栽植志愿劳动。国内外植物考察旅行是学会的标志性项目：境内考察深入芬兰各地林区与历史园林，境外考察曾前往爱沙尼亚、黎巴嫩等具有丰富木本植物资源的地区。学会自 2007 年起设立年度评选项目「Vuoden puusuku」（年度树属），每年向公众介绍一个具有园艺或生态价值的木本属。
出版物
学会的旗舰刊物为季刊《Sorbifolia》，每年四期，刊载会员撰写的植物分类、栽培试验、引种记录与考察报告，并定期整理历史文献与年度文章索引。除此之外，学会编辑出版《Publications of the Finnish Dendrological Society》系列专著与多本芬兰公园植物指南，代表性出版物《Suomen puu- ja pensaskasvio》系统介绍了芬兰境内的乔木与灌木资源。

About the Society
The Finnish Dendrological Society (Dendrologian Seura, Swedish: Dendrologiska Sällskapet) was founded in 1969 as a non-profit learned society based at the Botanical Museum of the University of Helsinki. Its purpose is to advance the knowledge and practical cultivation of native and successfully acclimatised exotic woody plants in Finland, supporting their use in landscape management, park and garden design, and forestry, in cooperation with public authorities, research institutes and sister organisations.
Organisation and Membership
The society has roughly one thousand members, drawn largely from amateur enthusiasts together with professionals working in forestry, horticulture and botany. It is a member of the Federation of Finnish Scientific Societies (Tieteellisten seurain valtuuskunta) and operates as an ideologically independent, non-partisan national body open to anyone interested in woody plants who pays the annual subscription. Local and thematic branches include the Häme, Kouvola and Oulu regional clubs, the Pomology club, the Quercus oak society, and the Rhododendron club.
Academic Activities
The society runs a year-round programme of lectures, study days and hands-on courses, complemented by park walks, plantation work parties and annual study trips at home and abroad. Domestic excursions explore Finnish arboreta, historical parks and natural woodlands, while international trips have covered sites of dendrological interest in Estonia and Lebanon, among other destinations. The annual Vuoden puusuku (Tree Genus of the Year) campaign, launched in 2007, highlights a different woody genus each year for public attention.
Publications
The society’s flagship periodical is the quarterly journal Sorbifolia, which carries member contributions on plant identification, cultivation trials, introduction records and field reports, alongside retrospective indexes of the society’s archive. The society also edits the Publications of the Finnish Dendrological Society monograph series and a number of guides to Finnish parks and arboreta, including the standard reference Suomen puu- ja pensaskasvio on Finland’s trees and shrubs.
Heritage and Standing
The society’s archive stretches back to its founding in 1969 and preserves a substantial body of original Finnish literature on woody plant introduction, hardiness and phytogeography. Its roll of honorary members and decorated contributors reflects longstanding ties with dendrological colleagues across the Nordic and Baltic countries, underlining its active position in the wider European woody-plant research network. The website also maintains illustrated species and genus accounts covering Finnish native and introduced woody genera, from poplars and birches to oaks, cherries, apples, roses, honeysuckles and linden.
