Mission and Scientific Research
The Society’s purpose is to encourage cultivation and conservation, and extend knowledge of Cyclamen species, variants, and cultivars. In addition to typical horticultural activities of a specialist plant society, the Society conducts a dedicated research program including field studies that have been ongoing since 1987, and laboratory work in collaboration with the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Reading, UK. The Society also serves as the International Registration Authority for Cyclamen cultivars.
Membership and Benefits
Membership of the Cyclamen Society is open to anyone. Members enjoy exclusive benefits including: the Cyclamen Society Journal, published twice yearly in June and December, featuring articles about Cyclamen in the wild and in cultivation, scientific research papers, cultivation experiences, and full-color illustrations; the annual Seed Distribution program offering members priority access to rare Cyclamen seeds; access to the Panel of Experts; the Society’s library resources; and priority access to shows and plant sales events.
Publications
The Society has published several booklets and guides, including ‘Cyclamen, A concise guide’, ‘The Cyclamen of Turkey’ (English and Turkish editions), and ‘The Cyclamen of Greece’ (English and Greek editions).
