Flowers in the City 与城市绿化

自 1949 年起，公司在 City of London 推动 Flowers in the City（城市花卉运动），鼓励伦敦金融城内的企业、写字楼、学校在庭院、中庭、屋顶、窗台、花槽等地种植当季花卉与可食用植物，并在每年夏季和冬季由独立评审团评选最佳展示。

Background and Livery Status

The Worshipful Company of Gardeners is one of the modern livery companies of the City of London. Its membership includes professional horticulturists, landscape practitioners, plant enthusiasts and supporters of urban green space, who together continue a craft tradition rooted in medieval London and re-oriented to twenty-first-century horticulture and conservation.

Charitable Body and Grant Giving

Day-to-day philanthropy is delivered through the independently constituted Worshipful Company of Gardeners of London Charity, registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales (charity number 1198790). The charity channels funding to horticultural education, training for people facing barriers to work, and projects that improve public green space in and around the City.

Pathways Programme

PathWays (formerly Future Gardeners), a separate charity (number 1191623) launched in partnership with Bankside Open Spaces Trust, supports people seeking a first career in horticulture with structured training, City & Guilds preparation, work placements and mentoring. More than eighty per cent of recent graduates move into apprenticeships, further study or employment within the sector.

King’s Trophy and Student Awards

The King’s Trophy, granted in the name of His Majesty King Charles III as a Royal Liveryman of the Company, is awarded annually to an individual or team that demonstrates excellence in sustainable horticulture, growing innovation or wider service to the profession. The Company also runs the Prince Edward Award, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission student prize and additional prizes for students at Capel Manor College, Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, RHS Wisley and Writtle.

Flowers in the City and Schools Outreach

Since 1949 the Company has run Flowers in the City, a campaign that invites firms, schools and institutions across the Square Mile to brighten window boxes, balconies, courtyards and roof terraces with seasonal planting. The Company also runs a schools outreach programme that introduces pupils of all ages to the breadth of careers available across horticulture and the natural environment.
