The carefully curated route focuses on experiencing authentic local culture, avoiding typical tourist attractions in favor of quiet back streets, out-of-the-way hamlets, private homes, and gardens. Daily authentic Japanese cuisine is provided, and participants have opportunities to experience traditional Japanese activities such as ikebana, calligraphy, and tea ceremony. All guides are fluent in both English and Japanese and have trained as gardeners in Japan. The tour also includes visits to Kyoto’s finest rock and plant nurseries, a koi breeder, and an awe-inspiring bamboo warehouse for hands-on gardening enthusiasts.
