
美国国家树木园(U.S. National Arboretum)位于华盛顿东北区,是美国农业部农业研究署(USDA-ARS)下属的集科研与公众教育于一体的综合性植物研究机构。1927年3月4日,美国国会通过《美国国家树木园法案》,由柯立芝总统签署生效,1953年正式并入美国农业部农业研究署。

开放信息
园区每日早8点至下午5点开放(圣诞节闭园)。国家盆景盆景博物馆(National Bonsai & Penjing Museum)每日早10点至下午4点开放,11月至2月联邦假日闭馆。园区和博物馆均免费参观,无需预约门票。

树木园占地451英亩,拥有起伏的林地、开阔草地和修复后的Spring House Run河岸栖息地,九英里蜿蜒道路连接各花园与自然区域。园内设有亚洲植物区(涵盖中日韩植物)、杜鹃花区、蕨类植物谷、国家盆景盆景博物馆(1976年建立,世界首个专注于盆景艺术的博物馆)、国家草本花园、国家黄杨木区、标志性的国会廊柱(National Capitol Columns,原支撑美国国会大厦东门廊1828-1958)等众多特色展区。

The U.S. National Arboretum, located in Northeast Washington, D.C., is a collections-based research facility and public garden operated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Research Service (USDA-ARS). Established by the National Arboretum Act signed into law by President Calvin Coolidge on March 4, 1927, it was incorporated into USDA-ARS in 1953.
Mission and Research
The Arboretum’s mission is to enhance the economic, environmental, and aesthetic value of ornamental and landscape plants through long-term, multi-disciplinary research, conservation of genetic resources, and interpretative gardens and exhibits. Research areas include floral and nursery plant breeding, pathogen detection and control, ornamental plant taxonomy, nursery production system improvements, and curation of woody landscape plant germplasm. The Arboretum has released 684 official plant varieties and holds 9 patents and 2 EPA biopesticide registrations.
Visitor Information
The grounds are open daily from 8am to 5pm, closed on Christmas Day. The National Bonsai & Penjing Museum is open from 10am to 4pm daily, closed on federal holidays from November through February. Admission to both the grounds and museum is free.

Spanning 451 acres of rolling forested terrain with meadows and restored riparian habitat, the Arboretum features nine miles of winding roadways connecting gardens and natural areas. Highlights include the Asian Collections (featuring plants from China, Korea, and Japan), Azalea Collections, Fern Valley, the National Bonsai & Penjing Museum (established 1976, the world’s first museum dedicated to the art of bonsai), the National Herb Garden, the National Boxwood Collection, and the iconic National Capitol Columns.

The Arboretum collaborates with institutions including the American Public Gardens Association, Georgia State University, Atlanta Botanical Garden, North Carolina State University, Texas A&M University, Virginia Tech, and maintains international partnerships with China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and more.
