历史沿革
英国伦敦儿童花卉协会 London Children’s Flower Society（LCFS）创立于 1945 年，是一家总部位于英国伦敦肯特郡奥平顿（Orpington）的注册慈善机构（注册编号 28444），迄今已有 80 余年历史。协会长期致力于在伦敦地区小学、幼儿园和特殊需要学校推广儿童园艺教育，帮助学童通过亲手种植接触自然、获得自信与生活技能。
年度园艺比赛
协会每年组织三项核心赛事：春季球根比赛要求儿童在冬季种植水仙花与风信子，夏季种植比赛鼓励学童栽培花卉、香草与蔬菜，学校花园比赛则表彰校园整体园艺与户外空间营造。所有参赛儿童均获颁证书与贴纸，年度颁奖典礼会向 27 所优胜学校授予奖杯与奖品，以表彰其创意与持续投入。
评审机制与课程对接
每年三月（春季球根）与七月（夏季作品），协会派遣志愿者团队前往参赛学校实地评审展示。所有项目与英国国家课程（National Curriculum）相衔接，并配套提供种植指引，方便教师将园艺活动融入教学；学校可提交儿童与作品的照片，部分作品会刊载于协会出版物。
学校花园与资助计划
学校花园比赛与夏季种植比赛并行举办，鼓励学校把户外空间打造成持续可供儿童探索、学习与成长的绿色场所。除赛事之外，协会亦会不定期提供小额资助机会，支持学校新建或升级校园绿地，让园艺成为学童日常生活中长期可触达的部分。
合作伙伴与年度表彰
协会的运营得到 Ashfords 基金会、BidFX、Cleary Gould、Coolings、Royal Parks 与 Worshipful Company of Gardeners 等机构与企业的长期赞助与支持。每年一度的颁奖典礼汇集伦敦各区参赛学校、教师与志愿者，共同庆祝儿童在园艺实践中展现的耐心、创意与关爱。
History and Identity
The London Children’s Flower Society (LCFS) is a registered charity founded in 1945 and headquartered in Orpington, Kent (Registered Charity No. 28444). For more than 80 years the Society has worked with London’s primary, nursery, and special-needs schools, helping children connect with nature through hands-on gardening and gain confidence, creativity, and practical life skills.
Annual Competitions
Each year the Society runs three core programmes: the Spring Bulb Competition, in which children plant and nurture daffodils and hyacinths through the winter; the Summer Growing Competition, focused on flowers, herbs, and vegetables; and the School Garden Competition, which recognises whole-school gardening and outdoor learning environments. Every participating child receives a certificate and stickers, while 27 winning schools are honoured with trophies and prizes at the Annual Awards Ceremony.
Judging and Curriculum
Volunteer judging teams visit participating schools in March (spring bulbs) and July (summer entries). The Society’s activities are designed to complement the National Curriculum, and clear planting guidance is provided to support teachers throughout the process. Schools are warmly invited to share photographs of children and their creations, which may be featured in the Society’s publications.
School Gardens and Grants
The School Garden Competition runs alongside the summer planting programme and encourages schools to develop outdoor spaces that children can explore, learn in, and care for throughout the year. In addition to the competitions, the Society occasionally provides small funding opportunities to help schools create or enhance their green spaces, embedding gardening into everyday school life.
Partners and Annual Awards
The Society’s work is supported by long-term partners and sponsors including the Ashfords Foundation, BidFX, Cleary Gould, Coolings, the Royal Parks, and the Worshipful Company of Gardeners. Each year the Annual Awards Ceremony brings together participating schools, teachers, and volunteers from across London to celebrate the patience, creativity, and care shown by young gardeners.
