Kigi Nursery (Kigi in Japanese means “trees” or “all kinds of trees”) is a specialty retail nursery focused on rare, weeping, dwarf, and miniature conifers as well as Japanese maples, headquartered in Southwest Washington State. The nursery leverages its proximity to many nursery partners in Oregon and Washington, widely recognized as the Conifer Capital of the USA. The nursery is state inspected and licensed to ship plant material into states with strict agricultural entry requirements, and every plant offered is carefully curated for garden merit.
Variety System and Product Categories
The core inventory spans cedars, cypresses, firs, hemlocks, junipers, larches, pines, redwoods, spruces, and yews among conifers, alongside deciduous trees including beeches, catalpas, dogwoods, elms, ginkgos, lindens, magnolias, maples, oaks, styrax, and sweet gums. Broadleaf evergreens such as arbutus (madrones), boxwoods, euonymuses, and hollies round out the woody plant selection, complemented by perennials, ferns, hostas, irises, succulents, ornamental grasses and bamboo, live moss, and a wide range of shrubs. The dwarf and miniature collections are a signature focus, suited to bonsai, rock gardens, pondside plantings, small gardens, and container culture, as well as railroad, fairy, patio trough, alpine, and rock gardening communities.
4D Caws Parrot Rescue and Hogi Botanical Garden Project
Owner Justen Homer is developing a 76-acre riverfront property along the Spirit Lake Highway near Mount Saint Helens in Southwest Washington, combining the 4D Caws Parrot Rescue and Sanctuary with the Hogi Gardens and 4D Caws educational project. The gardens will feature dwarf and unique conifers, Japanese maples, food forest edibles, ginkgos, dogwoods, and many other highly desirable landscape plants, alongside a large free-flight aviary for parrots in need of new homes. The site will provide gardening and animal-relationship opportunities for at-risk children, developmental disability programs, regional schools, garden clubs, and volunteers, with all donations going directly toward the building and ongoing maintenance of the property.
Retail and Mail Order Services
The nursery operates on a combination of by-appointment visits and online mail order, with on-site visits opening by appointment starting Spring 2026. Beyond the plant catalog, the nursery also stocks nutrients and additives, planting mixes, and gift certificates so gardeners can source their full setup in one place.
