It is the largest producer in Oregon for native plants used in streambank restoration.

About Us

Brooks Tree Farm specializes in starter plants for the Christmas tree, timber, and ornamental nursery trades, with a focus on species native to the Pacific Northwest. They are the largest producer in Oregon for native plants used in streambank restoration. Plant formats include bare root seedlings, transplants, plugs, trees and native shrubs in one-gallon containers, and trees established in pots for the grafting trade. Plug seedlings are also popular for green tree gifts and memorial or wedding plantings.

Farm Overview

The nursery began on a small farm in Brooks, a community in the rich Willamette Valley. Through farms purchased or rented over the years, the operation now spans eight farms on approximately 500 acres. The sandy soil of the Willamette Valley farms is ideal for fine-rooted seedlings and the long growing season produces large, vigorous seedlings. High-elevation farms with cool, moist conditions were specifically acquired for premium Noble Fir production.

The original Brooks location now houses the plug production facility, capable of producing two million plugs per year. New packing facilities allow up to 500,000 trees to be packed per day. On-site monitored cold storage holds up to three million trees at a time. Plants can be picked up at the wholesale nursery or shipped via commercial truck, Federal Express, UPS, or airfreight.

Product Variety

The nursery grows approximately fifty different species, including Christmas tree species such as Noble Fir (Abies procera), Turkish Fir (Abies bornmuelleriana), and Douglas Fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii); timber species including Western Red Cedar (Thuja plicata), Port Orford Cedar (Chamaecyparis lawsoniana), Ponderosa Pine (Pinus ponderosa), and Coast Redwood (Sequoia sempervirens); as well as Pacific Northwest native shrubs such as Oregon Holly (Ilex aquifolium), Red Flowering Currant (Ribes sanguineum), Oregon Grape (Mahonia aquifolium), and Salal (Gaultheria shallon). Seed sources include local Pacific Northwest seed zones, with some European seed orchard sources for Noble Fir and Turkish Fir. Products are primarily available as plug seedlings and bare root seedlings, as well as containerized plants and graft-ready trees.
