历史沿革

Visser Plant由约翰内斯·维塞尔（Johannes Visser）和卢伊特恩·维塞尔（Luitzen Visser）兄弟于1964年创立。两人毕业于弗雷德里克索尔德的G.A.范斯维滕高等园艺学校，随后在其父亲埃弗特·维塞尔（Evert Visser）位于荷兰弗里斯兰省利彭赫伊曾的畜牧场基础上建立了苗圃企业。创业初期主要培育灌木和针叶树，供应批发商，后来逐步扩展至庭院设计与绿化工程领域。

1966年，父亲埃弗特·维塞尔在德拉赫滕建立了一个园艺中心作为零售网点，向个人客户销售苗木。1975年，企业在利彭赫伊曾购置4.5公顷土地，开始发展容器栽培业务。如今，Visser Plant已成为荷兰北部最具规模的苗木与园艺中心运营商，业务范围覆盖批发、出口及零售三大板块。

品种与规模

苗圃目前拥有数十万株苗木，品种涵盖乔木、灌木、针叶树、杜鹃花、宿根植物、攀援植物、地被植物、绿篱植物、观赏草、玫瑰、绣球花、竹类、一年生植物以及果木浆果等多个品类。其中，锥形柱冠（Thuja occidentalis ‘Frieslandia’）和 Mirjam 等为该企业自主选育的专利品种，前者更是目前欧洲最优秀的绿篱针叶树之一，具有出色的抗海风能力和耐寒特性。

苗圃采用容器栽培技术，实现了全年随时可移植的灵活供应模式，这一创新使其在荷兰园艺行业保持技术领先地位。

出口与市场

Visser Plant的产品目前有约50%用于出口，主要市场涵盖斯堪的纳维亚半岛，并持续向东欧和俄罗斯市场扩展。企业还直接从苗圃向园林公司和市政单位供货，减少中间环节，保障品质与价格优势。

2008年，Visser Plant获得了其自主选育的矮生黄叶针叶树品种Thuja occidentalis ‘Mirjam’的全球专利权，该品种在波兰、俄罗斯和北美市场深受欢迎。

History

Founded in 1964 by brothers Johannes and Luitzen Visser, both graduates of the G.A. van Swieten Higher Horticultural School in Frederiksoord, Visser Plant began as a nursery on their father Evert Visser’s livestock farm in Lippenhuizen, initially growing shrubs and conifers for wholesale before expanding into garden design and landscaping.

In 1966, their father Evert Visser established a garden centre in Drachten to sell directly to retail customers. In 1975, the company purchased 4.5 hectares of land in Lippenhuizen and began container cultivation, which has since expanded significantly. Today, Visser Plant has become the largest nursery and garden centre operator in northern Netherlands, serving wholesale, export, and retail markets.

Products and Scale

The nursery currently cultivates hundreds of thousands of plants across diverse categories: trees, shrubs, conifers, rhododendrons, perennials, climbers, groundcovers, hedge plants, ornamental grasses, roses, hydrangeas, bamboos, annuals, and fruit trees. Among them, Thuja occidentalis ‘Frieslandia’ and ‘Mirjam’ are proprietary varieties developed by the company—the former recognized as one of Europe’s finest hedging conifers with excellent salt-wind resistance and cold tolerance.

The nursery adopted container cultivation technology, enabling year-round planting flexibility and keeping the company at the technical forefront of the Dutch horticultural industry.

Export and Markets

Approximately 50% of Visser Plant’s production is exported, primarily to Scandinavia, with growing presence in Eastern Europe and Russia. The company also supplies garden designers and municipal authorities directly from the nursery, reducing intermediaries to ensure quality and competitive pricing.

In 2008, Visser Plant obtained global patents for Thuja occidentalis ‘Mirjam’, a dwarf golden conifer variety particularly popular in Poland, Russia, and North America.

Services and Experience

Beyond plant production and sales, Visser Plant offers gift cards, free trailer loans, Sketch design consultations, garden design services, and a new delivery and professional planting service launched in 2024. Weekly events provide interactive experiences for customers.

The nursery is set within a beautiful nature reserve surrounded by ancient trees, with grounds laid out like a large park where visitors can stroll among diverse plant displays for inspiration. Golf carts are available to help customers collect selected plants, and the outdoor café offers coffee and tea for relaxation after shopping.
