苗圃持续从全球不同产区系统引进鸡蛋花种质资源,目前在售的种源系列涵盖 Thailand Collection(泰国)、Hawaii Collection(夏威夷)、Australia Collection(澳大利亚)、Mexico Collection(墨西哥)、Kukiat Collection(泰国 Kukiat)、Jim Little Collection(夏威夷)、Jungle Jack Collection(澳洲)、Florida Colors Introductions Collection(自育)以及 Bali Collection 与 Herzog Collection 等十余条线。

苗圃另运营 plumeriacareguide.com 专题站、plumeria.today 资讯站与 plumeria.photo 图库站作为延伸阅读资源,并提供基于第三方积分的在线/到店统一会员体系。

Florida Colors Nursery is a family-run Plumeria specialist nursery in Homestead, Florida, established in 1976 and refocused on Plumeria cultivation by Luc and Carol Vannoorbeeck in 1993 after Hurricane Andrew destroyed their previous hibiscus operation. The nursery now maintains over 10,000 mature trees and roughly 1,200 distinct cultivars, including more than 100 of its own Plumeria rubra hybrids — making it one of the most influential specialist Plumeria nurseries in the United States and a reference source for collectors worldwide.

Nursery Heritage and Cultivar Portfolio

Under Luc Vannoorbeeck’s breeding program, the nursery’s named Plumeria rubra cultivars now exceed 100, with ‘Abigail’, ‘Luc’s Magnum Opus’, ‘Nebula’ and ‘Tex Huestis’ becoming classics pursued by enthusiasts across the globe. Luc favored grafting scions onto vigorous rootstock over rooting cuttings — a practice that has become the nursery’s signature technique for producing stronger, more resilient plants. After Luc’s passing in 2013, his wife Carol continued the operation with Tex and Kay Norwood (who joined from Texas in 2012), and the breeding program remained active: 2022 saw the cluster release of self-bred cultivars including ‘Carol’s Orange Marmalade’, ‘Merlot’, ‘Merlin’, ‘Dino’ and ‘Gravity’.

Breeding Lines and Germplasm Introduction

The nursery systematically introduces Plumeria germplasm from multiple production regions and currently offers more than a dozen labeled collections, including the Thailand Collection, Hawaii Collection, Australia Collection, Mexico Collection, Kukiat Collection, Jim Little Collection, Jungle Jack Collection, Florida Colors Introductions Collection (own-bred), Bali Collection and Herzog Collection. On the species side, the nursery’s most historically significant contribution was the first large-scale introduction of Plumeria pudica (the evergreen Plumeria) and Plumeria stenopetala (the irresistibly fragrant species) into the U.S. market — both of which are now widely planted across the American South.

Propagation Product Lines and Annual Open House

Retail offerings are organized into four propagation stages: Callused Cuttings (10–18 inch dormant branch tips), Rooted Plumeria (plants with established root systems), Grafted Plumeria (scion-on-rootstock combinations) and Seedlings (own-bred). The nursery also produces its own Excalibur line of slow-release Plumeria fertilizers: Excalibur VI (6-month NPK 11-11-14), Excalibur IX (9-month NPK 11-11-13) and Excalibur Boost (2–3 month NPK 10-12-14) — all formulated specifically for Plumeria bloom physiology. Each spring the nursery hosts a two-day Open House at its Homestead grounds, combining new-cultivar showcases, grafting demonstrations, gardening classes and garden tours, making it the most important annual in-person gathering for the U.S. Plumeria community.

Cultivation Resources and Customer Services

The nursery maintains a full growing-cycle Plumeria care guide based on Zone 10B South Florida practice: 6–8 hours of full sun are required for bloom initiation, the recommended soil mix is one-third Canadian sphagnum peat moss, one-third coir and one-third horticultural-grade perlite, and the dormant period (when night temperatures stay below 50°F) requires moving plants into a garage, closet or greenhouse. Spider mites, whiteflies and scale are the principal pests, controlled with horticultural oil or diluted dish-soap sprays. Complementary resources include plumeriacareguide.com, plumeria.today and plumeria.photo, and a unified online/in-store loyalty-points system that keeps inventory synchronized across channels.
