Family Business History and Global Footprint
Beekenkamp Group is a family-owned horticultural company based in Maasdijk, the Netherlands. Founded by Govert Beekenkamp in 1951, it grew from a 1.3-hectare vegetable nursery into an international group. The company’s 2026 anniversary information reports more than 95 hectares of greenhouses, approximately 2,900 employees, annual production of over 2 billion young plants and operations in more than 45 countries. In 2000, Govert transferred the business to his daughters An and Margriet Beekenkamp, strengthening the family-led character of the organization.
Three Businesses and Product Portfolio
The Group consists of Beekenkamp Plants, Beekenkamp Verpakkingen and Deliflor Chrysanten. Beekenkamp Plants includes Vegetables and Ornamentals, supplying vegetable young plants, pot plants, garden plants and ornamental genetics. Beekenkamp Verpakkingen develops trays, pots, substrate troughs, transport boxes, crates and insect-breeding containers. Deliflor Chrysanten focuses on chrysanthemum breeding and propagation. Together, these businesses connect plant genetics, young-plant production and horticultural packaging.
Breeding, R&D and Production
Research and development are central to the Group’s approach. Its Maasdijk R&D Center supports new genetics and production improvements, while facilities and projects in Kenya, Colombia and Japan extend the international production network. Beekenkamp Vegetables emphasizes strict hygiene procedures, controlled greenhouse access and reliable propagation. The business also highlights GSPP certification, crop protection, water and light management, geothermal energy and other measures intended to improve quality and reduce environmental impact.
Sustainable Packaging and Horticultural Cooperation
Beekenkamp Verpakkingen has expanded from plant-raising trays into a broad range of packaging and logistics products. Its portfolio includes solutions for tulips, strawberries, chrysanthemums, cucumbers, lilies, tomatoes and berries, as well as insect-breeding systems. The company works with more than 120 molds and production partners in the Netherlands and Belgium, and develops custom solutions from mold design through production. This packaging expertise complements the Group’s plants and breeding activities.
Quality, Innovation and International Partnerships
The Group presents quality, reliability, personal cooperation and innovation as long-term principles. Its international network serves professional growers, breeding partners and horticultural customers. The 2026 75th-anniversary information describes continued investment in people, research, international facilities and sustainable solutions. Beekenkamp Group therefore offers a useful example of how a Dutch family enterprise has combined young plants, ornamental genetics, chrysanthemum breeding and horticultural packaging into a coordinated international business.
