About Corn Hill Nursery
Founded in 1980 and owned by Bob Osborne and his wife Kathleen, Corn Hill Nursery is the largest Canadian plant production nursery east of Montreal. Located in Cornhill, New Brunswick, the nursery spans over 65 acres of cultivation with nearly 1000 varieties of plant material available. Bob Osborne is a Red Seal certified landscape instructor, published author, columnist on CBC Radio Maritime Noon, and recipient of the Canadian Society for Horticultural Science Special Recognition Award.
Products and Expertise
The nursery specializes in grafting and propagation of many plants, including many native species, with particular expertise in hardy plant cultivation. Corn Hill Nursery is one of ten sites across Canada that test and evaluate new rose introductions for form, fragrance, disease resistance, and hardiness. The nursery grows without herbicides or pesticides, maintaining soil fertility through composts, mulches, and meals made from canning industry by-products. Bob has authored several books on hardy trees, shrubs, roses, and apples for cold climate gardens.
Visitor Experience and Dining
The nursery features a retail store, extensive display gardens, and container and field production areas open for exploration. Open seasonally from mid-April through October, hours are Monday through Saturday 8AM-5PM. The on-site Cedar Café serves wood-fired pizzas, homemade sandwiches, and refreshments Thursday through Sunday. Regular seminars cover topics like grafting, pruning, and growing apples, while events include Artists in the Garden, Rose Weeks, and Fall Fest.
