机构沿革与隶属体系
广州市林业和园林科学研究院（挂广州市林业和园林科技推广中心牌子）隶属于广州市林业和园林局，前身为 1978 年 4 月成立于白云山麓湖畔的广州市园林科学研究所。2013 年研究院整合广州市园林科学研究所、广州市绿化公司白云苗圃、广州市林业科技推广站组建而成，同时挂牌科技推广中心，是一家集林业园林研发、生产推广应用、科普培训为一体的综合性科研机构，承担全市林业园林专业培训、科普宣传、工程检测、桥梁绿化养护等工作。
研究方向与研究团队
主要研究方向覆盖乡土彩叶观花植物资源利用、林木良种繁育、植物保护、土壤监测改良与植物营养调控、绿色废弃物资源化利用、景观营造、绿地生态保护及信息化管理等林业园林高新技术领域。院内设有植物研究所、植物保护研究所、土壤环境研究所、生态信息研究所、林业技术研究所五个研究部门，并建有桥梁绿化工程技术中心、三角梅研究中心、月季研究中心、白云苗圃基地等技术与推广平台，现有职工 160 余人，其中教授级高工 7 人、高级工程师 27 人、工程师 39 人，博士研究生 14 人、硕士研究生 34 名。
科研平台与成果转化
已构建起广东广州城市生态系统国家定位观测研究站、国家城市林业科技示范园、广东省城市园林工程技术研发中心、广东省检测中心、广东省种质资源库等多个研究平台。先后完成林业园林科技项目 200 余项，编制国家、行业、地方及团体标准 30 余项，获各级科技（成果）奖项 80 余项，桥梁绿化、立体绿化项目先后获中国风景园林学会科技奖、广东省宜居环境范例奖、广东省和广州市优良样板工程奖，编制有广州市地方技术标准《人行天桥立交桥绿化种植养护技术规范》。
科技推广与技术服务
科技推广与服务体系依托桥梁绿化工程技术中心、三角梅研究中心、月季研究中心三大平台，主要从事桥梁绿化建设及养护技术研究、城市道路花卉布置、耐热型月季栽培技术推广、花卉新品种生产与新技术推广。三角梅研究中心收集品种 540 余个、筛选推广 25 个、获植物新品种权 3 个；月季研究中心收集品种 300 余个、获国家新品种授权 5 个；土壤环境、植物保护、生态信息、林业技术等团队同时承担城市绿地土壤质量评估、古树名木健康巡查与抢救复壮、林业和园林有害生物预警监测、城市生态系统定位观测等公共服务。
种质资源与示范基地
种质资源与示范基地建设是科研体系的重要组成部分，拥有观赏植物种质资源圃、林木良种繁育基地、簕杜鹃种质资源圃、东平花卉基地、高山花卉基地、白云苗圃等共 1200 余亩科研示范与科普展示平台。植物研究所近五年主持实施科研项目 35 项、技术服务 30 项，发表论文 50 篇（其中 SCI 收录 7 篇），获植物新品种权 3 项、发明专利 3 项、实用新型专利 1 项；林业技术研究所引种收集优良乡土树种 400 余种、培育推广 30 余万株，营建优良乡土树种示范林近 3000 亩；林木良种繁育基地规模 360 余亩，集成林业园林科学研究与成果转化于一体。
Institutional History and Affiliations
Guangzhou Institute of Forestry and Landscape Architecture (also operating as the Guangzhou Forestry and Landscape Technology Extension Centre) falls under the Guangzhou Municipal Forestry and Landscape Bureau. Its predecessor, the Guangzhou Municipal Institute of Landscape Architecture, was founded in April 1978 on the lakeshore of Baiyun Mountain. In 2013 the institute merged the former municipal landscape research body, the Baiyun Nursery of Guangzhou Greening Company, and the Guangzhou Forestry Technology Extension Station into the present institute, while keeping the extension-centre nameplate. It is a comprehensive scientific body integrating R&D, application, extension, and science education, and provides city-wide training, public outreach, project inspection, and bridge-greening maintenance services.
Research Directions and Teams
Research covers utilisation of indigenous colour-leaf and flowering plant resources, elite tree seedling breeding, plant protection, soil monitoring and improvement, plant nutrition regulation, green-waste resource recovery, landscape creation, urban green-space ecological protection, and information management. The institute comprises five research departments — Plant Research, Plant Protection Research, Soil Environment Research, Ecological Information Research, and Forestry Technology Research — together with the Bridge Greening Technology Centre, Bougainvillea Research Centre, Rose Research Centre, and Baiyun Nursery. Staff exceed 160, including 7 professor-level senior engineers, 27 senior engineers, 39 engineers, 14 PhD candidates and 34 master’s candidates.
Research Platforms and Achievements
Major platforms include the National Positioning Observation and Research Station for the Guangzhou Urban Ecosystem, the National Urban Forestry Science and Technology Demonstration Park, the Guangdong Provincial R&D Centre for Urban Landscape Engineering Technology, the Guangdong Provincial Inspection Centre, and the Guangdong Provincial Germplasm Resource Bank. The institute has delivered more than 200 forestry and landscape research projects, drafted over 30 national, industry, local, and group standards, and received more than 80 science and technology awards at various tiers. Its bridge-greening and vertical-greening work has won the Chinese Society of Landscape Architecture Science-Technology Award, the Guangdong Provincial Livable Environment Model Award, and provincial and municipal model-project awards, while its Guangzhou local technical specification for pedestrian and overpass greening planting and maintenance remains a key regional standard.
Extension Services and Technical Outreach
The extension and technical-service system is built around the Bridge Greening Technology Centre, the Bougainvillea Research Centre, and the Rose Research Centre, focusing on bridge greening construction and maintenance, urban roadside flower arrangement, heat-tolerant rose cultivation, new variety propagation, and new planting technologies. The Bougainvillea Research Centre holds more than 540 accessions, with 25 promoted for bridge application and three plant-variety rights granted; the Rose Research Centre holds more than 300 accessions with five national variety rights. The Soil Environment, Plant Protection, Ecological Information, and Forestry Technology teams additionally provide urban green-space soil evaluation, ancient-tree inspection and rehabilitation, pest forecasting and control, and city-ecosystem observation services.
Germplasm Resources and Demonstration Bases
Germplasm resources and demonstration bases form a major part of the institute’s research infrastructure. It runs the Ornamental Plant Germplasm Repository, the Elite Forest Tree Breeding Base, the Bougainvillea Germplasm Repository, the Dongping Flower Base, the Gaoshan Flower Base, and the Baiyun Nursery, covering more than 1,200 mu of research, demonstration, and public-education land. The Plant Research team has, in the past five years, led 35 projects and 30 technical services, published 50 papers (including 7 SCI-indexed), and been granted 3 plant variety rights, 3 invention patents and 1 utility-model patent. The Forestry Technology team has introduced more than 400 fine native tree species, propagated over 300,000 seedlings, and built nearly 3,000 mu of demonstration forest. The Elite Tree Breeding Base covers more than 360 mu and integrates forestry-landscape research with technology transfer.
