德国兰花协会 (Deutsche Orchideen-Gesellschaft e.V., 简称 D.O.G.) 是德语区历史最悠久的兰花专业民间团体之一, 总部位于黑森州陶努斯山区 (Rheingau-Taunus) 下方的尼德恩豪森 (Niedernhausen), 注册于威斯巴登地方法院 Vereinsregister VR6434。协会 1906 年由一批兰花爱好者在德国发起, 一百多年来一直以促进兰花知识的传播与保护为宗旨, 现有全球会员近 3000 人, 涵盖普通花卉爱好者、植物学专业人员、育种者与规模化种植者, 是欧洲兰花民间交流网络中最重要的德语节点之一。
协会沿革与组织架构
德国兰花协会自 1906 年成立以来始终以促进兰花知识普及为最高目标, 通过近 120 年的民间运作成长为德语区最有影响力的兰花团体之一。协会以协会注册形式 (eingetragener Verein, e.V.) 依法登记, 由会员大会选举产生的理事会负责日常运作, 现任主要负责人包括会长 Bernd Treder (负责日常事务管理、协会兰花评分与展览) 、副会长 Monika Eckert (负责会刊《Die Orchidee》编辑) 与副会长 Franz-Josef Richardt (负责财务、会员事务、各地区小组与展览团队)。协会在德国境内按地区设有多个地方小组, 会员可在就近的小组参加定期聚会, 也可通过线上小组参与讨论。
宗旨与活动
协会的根本宗旨是让兰花学知识尽可能向所有兰花爱好者开放, 具体通过三条主线展开: 一是支持与发起各类兰花科学研讨会和报告, 涉及兰花的人工无菌繁殖、分株繁殖、栖息地调查与栖息地保护、栽培问题等领域; 二是组织各类兰花展览与现场评议, 让普通公众有机会直观了解兰花的多样性与栽培要点; 三是推动国际兰花民间交流, 与美国兰花学会 (American Orchid Society) 以及奥地利、瑞士、匈牙利、瑞典、丹麦、波兰等邻国兰花协会保持长期合作联系, 共同举办跨国兰花评比等交流活动。
会员刊物《Die Orchidee》
《Die Orchidee》是协会面向会员出版的双月刊, 每年发行六期并附赠一本专门的兰花评分专辑, 单期约 80 页 A4 开本, 是全球兰花界最具声望的德语专业期刊之一。内容涵盖兰花原生地考察记录与高清生态照片、新栽培方法的经验分享、兰花分类学最新动态、入门者实用技巧等, 既适合刚入门的爱好者也受到资深玩家的欢迎。协会另设专门的会员图书馆, 馆藏书籍与期刊合计约 14000 件 (14 000 Medien), 会员可通过书面申请免费借阅, 借期八周, 馆方承担寄回邮费; 此外协会常年将淘汰图书以捐赠方式向会员转让。
会员与参与方式
协会的会员结构非常多样, 从窗台种植者、温室发烧友到专业育种者与植物学家都能在协会中找到位置, 全球会员总数接近 3000 人。会员可享受《Die Orchidee》双月刊免费寄送、图书馆借阅、地区小组聚会与全年兰花展览、评议活动以及研讨会参与资格, 并在德累斯顿和纽乌姆两大兰花展上获得优惠门票。协会面向青少年学生与海外会员设有不同等级的年费档, 并以公益社团身份运行, 会员费可在个人所得税中作为捐赠抵扣。协会日常工作完全由志愿者承担。
国际合作与全球活动
协会长期保持与全球主要兰花民间团体的合作, 通过联合举办兰花评比、研讨会和国际兰花大会等方式推动兰花知识的跨国交流。最具代表性的项目是四年一度的世界兰花大会 (Weltorchideenkonferenz, WOC), 协会会员在台湾举行的第 23 届 WOC 上成功争取到 2026 年第 24 届 WOC 的主办权, 大会确定于 2026 年 3 月 26 至 29 日在德累斯顿举办, 是这一全球兰花界最高规格盛事首次落户德语区。除承办世界大会外, 协会每年还在德累斯顿复活节花展 (Dresdner Ostern) 上组织欧洲规模最大的兰花展之一, 并通过 Facebook 与 Instagram 平台举办每月一次的线上兰花冠军评选 (Online Champion) 等线上活动。
The Deutsche Orchideen-Gesellschaft e.V. (D.O.G.) is one of the oldest German-language orchid societies, headquartered in Niedernhausen in the Rheingau-Taunus hills of Hesse and entered in the Vereinsregister of the Amtsgericht Wiesbaden under VR6434. Founded in 1906, it has worked for more than a century to make orchid knowledge accessible to all enthusiasts and now counts close to 3,000 members worldwide, ranging from window-sill hobbyists to professional breeders and botanists. It remains one of the most important German-speaking nodes in the European amateur orchid network.
History and Governance
Since its founding in 1906, the society has pursued the goal of making orchid knowledge accessible to anyone with an interest in these plants, growing over nearly 120 years into the most influential German-language orchid association. It is registered as an eingetragener Verein (e.V.) and run by a Vorstand elected by the membership assembly. The current leadership comprises President Bernd Treder (general management, D.O.G. plant judging and exhibitions), Vice-President Monika Eckert (editor-in-chief of Die Orchidee) and Vice-President Franz-Josef Richardt (finances, member administration, regional group accounts and exhibition team). The society operates through a network of regional groups across Germany, supplemented by an online group for members who cannot attend in person.
Aims and Activities
The society’s overarching aim is to open orchid science to as wide an audience as possible. It pursues three complementary lines of activity: it supports and initiates symposia and scientific reports covering asymbiotic sowing, vegetative propagation by division, habitat surveys and in-situ conservation, and cultural practice; it organises orchid shows and plant-judging events that bring the diversity and cultivation requirements of orchids to a broader public; and it maintains long-standing cooperative links with the American Orchid Society and the orchid societies of Austria, Switzerland, Hungary, Sweden, Denmark and Poland, including joint cross-border judging competitions between member countries.
The Journal Die Orchidee
Die Orchidee is the society’s bimonthly journal, with six issues per year plus a special judging supplement. Each issue runs to around 80 A4 pages and is regarded as one of the most respected German-language orchid publications in the world. The journal combines high-resolution habitat reports and field photography from orchid natural sites, accounts of new cultivation methods, the latest developments in orchid taxonomy, and practical tips aimed at beginners that are also valued by experienced growers. Members also have access to the D.O.G. library, which holds roughly 14,000 books and periodicals available for free loan, with an eight-week lending period and postal return covered by the society; surplus books are regularly donated to members on a contribution basis.
Membership and Participation
The membership spans the full spectrum of orchid interest, from window-sill and greenhouse hobbyists through serious amateur growers to professional breeders and botanists, totalling close to 3,000 members worldwide. Members receive the bimonthly Die Orchidee by post, free access to the lending library, participation in regional groups and in the full programme of exhibitions, judging events and symposia, and reduced admission to the two major orchid shows in Dresden and Neu-Ulm. Reduced subscription rates are available for students and for overseas members, and the society operates as a registered charitable association (gemeinnütziger Verein), so that membership fees may be treated as tax-deductible donations. All work is carried out on a volunteer basis.
International Cooperation and Global Events
The society maintains long-standing cooperation with leading amateur orchid organisations worldwide and participates in international judging events, symposia and the quadrennial World Orchid Conference. The most visible recent milestone was winning the right to host the 24th World Orchid Conference (WOC) in Dresden on 26-29 March 2026, after the membership successfully bid for it at the 23rd WOC in Taiwan, bringing the world’s premier orchid event to a German-speaking country for the first time. Beyond the world conference, the society co-organises one of Europe’s largest orchid shows at the Dresdner Ostern Easter fair in Dresden each year, runs the annual D.O.G. Symposium on a dedicated orchid topic, and hosts the monthly Online Champion competition on its Facebook and Instagram channels, where members’ blooming plants are voted on by the community.
