栽培支持与配送政策
由于鳞茎植物只能在休眠期安全起运，苗圃严格按物种成熟期分批发货，不提供全年无差别配送。所有包裹均以”签收”方式寄送，并可加配追踪服务；海外订单按比例计费，覆盖植物健康检查、出口前检验、植物检疫证书、出口清洗、空邮及包装成本。苗圃无法通过电邮对单一栽培问题作个性化回复，但按属及物种维护详尽的栽培说明文档，并设客户资源区供账户登录后查阅历年品种评估与图片库。订单一旦通过 Elavon（前 SagePay）支付网关在线付款即完成保留，未付款订单不会预留植物。
RarePlants is a small family-run mail-order nursery in the United Kingdom that specialises in rare and unusual species bulbs, corms, tubers, rhizomes and a few hardy orchids. The nursery is based in Wrexham, North Wales, and was originally founded by Paul Christian while he was a university botany student; after completing a PhD and further research, Dr. Christian took the business on full-time. With continuous trading of more than six decades, RarePlants now runs its main site on deep alluvial sand beds on the Chester–Wrexham plain, together with two additional bulb-production plots and a small network of trusted suppliers and contract growers. The aim of the nursery is to supply new, rare and noteworthy plants that are not found in ordinary local garden centres, with particular emphasis on Trillium and other woodland taxa.
Company History and Geographical Setup
RarePlants began as a part-time enterprise on the mountainside above Minera near Wrexham before relocating to a lower site on the alluvial plain between Chester and Wrexham, where deep sand beds proved far more suitable for bulb cultivation. Dr. Paul Christian remains the director of the company. In addition to the Wrexham headquarters, the nursery operates two further production sites and cooperates with a network of contract growers, while Rareplants Ltd is held as a non-trading sister entity. The business explicitly states that it has no connection with any other companies using the name “rareplants” in the UK or abroad and does not sell plants on eBay under any variant of its name.
Range and Species Scale
The core speciality is rare and unusual species bulbs, with current inventory running at more than 3,600 species. Trillium and related woodland plants have been a long-term focus, complemented by other tubers, rhizomes, woodland perennials, tender bulbs and a small selection of alpines. The online offering is split into two seasonal listings: a Summer/Autumn listing for September–November despatch and a Spring listing for January–April despatch. All prices are quoted per single bare-root bulb, corm or rhizome in pounds sterling, with bulk pricing displayed where available, and listings routinely include genera such as Galanthus, Narcissus, Colchicum, Erythronium, Tecophilaea, Tulipa sprengeri, Acis and Biarum.
Cultivation Support and Despatch Policy
Bulbs can only be sent safely while dormant, so the nursery strictly follows the natural ripening cycle of each species rather than offering year-round shipping. All parcels are despatched by signed-for post with the option to add tracking, while overseas orders are charged on a percentage basis that covers plant-health inspection, pre-export inspection, phytosanitary certificates, export cleaning, air postage and packing. Cultivation notes are provided by genus and by individual species where needed, and account holders can access the customer resources area, which contains long-form reviews, cultural advice and image galleries. Individualised cultivation advice by email is not available owing to the scale of the inventory, which exceeds 3,600 species.
