组织概况
美国大丽花协会（American Dahlia Society，简称ADS）成立于1915年，是一个501(c)(3)非营利组织。协会由美国和加拿大70余个独立地方大丽花协会组成，致力于通过教育和科研活动促进大丽花的培育与推广，传播大丽花种植信息，推动大丽花文化发展。
主要活动
ADS每年举办全国大丽花展（National Show），设有”年度五十佳”（Fabulous Fifty）评选，表彰在认证ADS展览中获得50次以上蓝奖及更高奖项的大丽花品种。协会还运营病毒研究项目，与华盛顿州立大学合作，跟踪研究大丽花病毒并发布防治指南，包括《病毒防控进展》《无病毒种球指南》等文章。
试验花园
ADS在全北美设立试验花园（Trial Gardens），为杂交育种者提供新品种的评估与计分场所。试验花园定期发布年度结果报告，包含康比（Canby）等花园的详细照片和视频记录，供种植者和研究人员参考，2014年起每年发布存档。
分类体系与在线指南
ADS建立完整的大丽花分类体系，每个注册品种获得四位分类编号，按花型、大小、颜色分类。协会发布《ADS大丽花手册与分类》（ADS Handbook & Classification of Dahlias），提供官方分类标准。新版在线分类指南（Online Classification Guide，OCG）涵盖数千个ADS注册品种，支持按类型、大小、颜色、关键词检索，并提供”Field OCG”移动版供花园和展览现场使用。

The American Dahlia Society (ADS) was founded in 1915 and is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The society is comprised of over 70 independent local dahlia societies in the United States and Canada. ADS was established to stimulate interest in, disseminate information about, and promote the culture and development of the dahlia through educational and research activities.
Main Activities
ADS hosts an annual National Show and maintains the Fabulous Fifty program, recognizing dahlia cultivars that have received at least 50 blue and higher awards at sanctioned ADS shows throughout the United States and Canada. The society also operates a dedicated Virus Project in collaboration with Washington State University, publishing articles such as “Progress in the Study of Virus in Dahlia,” “Virus-Free Stock for Your Garden,” and “Prescription for Dahlia Gardens Free from Virus” in ADS Bulletins.
Trial Gardens
ADS sponsors Trial Gardens across North America to provide hybridizers with a place to have their new dahlia cultivars evaluated and scored. Annual trial garden results are published with detailed photo galleries and videos, including archives dating back to 2014. Notable gardens include the Canby Trial Garden, which has recorded video documentation of trial results.
Classification System and Online Guide
ADS has established a comprehensive dahlia classification system. Each ADS registered dahlia is assigned a 4-digit classification number depending on its size, form, and color. The society publishes the “ADS Handbook & Classification of Dahlias,” which serves as the authoritative reference for dahlia classification standards. The Online Classification Guide (OCG) covers thousands of ADS registered varieties, searchable by type, size, color, and keyword, with a “Field OCG” mobile version available for use in gardens and at shows.
Educational Resources and Membership
ADS provides Dahlia University, an online learning platform with short courses and videos covering variety identification and growing techniques. The society also publishes a dahlia supplier directory, a Virus Documentation Index, articles such as “Dahlia Nomenclature and Brief History,” and ADS Bulletins dating back to the 1930s, all available online for download. ADS welcomes new members who may join through a local society or directly “at large” via the website, and regularly publishes ADS Bulletins for its community.
