Baby Plants

网站目前首页注明「Interested in buying this website?

Which?

Sapcote Garden Centre: A Family-Owned Centre in Leicestershire

Babyplants (www.babyplants.co.uk) is the online plug plant arm of Sapcote Garden Centre, a family-owned garden centre in Sapcote, Leicestershire. Sapcote Garden Centre sits just off the M69 motorway in rural Leicestershire and has been in the same family since 2001, when the current generation took over a long-standing local nursery. It is registered in the UK as a private limited company, SAPCOTE GARDEN CENTRE LIMITED (company number 05994722), with its principal activity listed as the retail sale of flowers, plants, seeds, fertilisers, pet animals and pet food in specialised stores. The centre itself offers over 200 car parking bays, an in-store cafe, and a large garden furniture showroom, and serves thousands of gardeners from across Leicestershire and Coventry every week.

The Babyplants Online Plug Plant Store, Launched in Spring 2013

Babyplants.co.uk went live in Spring 2013 with the goal of selling premium plug plants and mini-plugs grown on site at the Leicestershire garden centre. The site’s location makes it well placed for nationwide mail order, sitting roughly within reach of Nottingham and Northampton, as well as Birmingham. As of the most recent site notice, the Babyplants online shop has stopped taking new orders: a banner at the top reads «Interested in buying this website? Email info@sapcotegc.co.uk with an offer», which invites visitors either to buy the website as a standalone online business or to visit Sapcote Garden Centre in person to pick up the full plug plant range from the store.

Plug Plant and Mini-Plug Range

Every plug plant sold by Sapcote Garden Centre is grown in the UK and is not left sitting in its packaging for long, which keeps the rootballs fresh and reduces the risk of plants arriving damaged or barren. The site splits its offering into two formats. Jumbo plugs are raised from cuttings and come with a 3.5 cm rootball; they can be bought singly or in packs of six (five for upright Geraniums), with a free colour label included for each plant so the variety stays identifiable after potting. Mini-plugs are raised from seed with a roughly 1.5 cm rootball, in the same small format as those used by professional nurseries, and are sold in packs of 50 or 100. Mini-plugs start from around 9p each and are particularly useful where a large number of summer bedding plants is needed. Across the two formats the site lists over 200 jumbo plug varieties and around 40 mini-plug varieties, covering the main garden centre bedding lines such as Geraniums, Fuchsias, Petunias, Lobelia and Begonias.

Which? Plants by Post Standards and the Original Photo Mark

Babyplants has long pledged to follow the Which? Plants by Post criteria for selling plants by mail. Orders are kept updated throughout the process, the expert team can be reached by phone or email every day, and packaging is designed specifically to keep plug plants in good condition during transit. Photographs on the site that come straight from Sapcote Garden Centre are marked with the «babyplants original» stamp; these images are unedited, so customers get a realistic impression of what their plugs will look like on arrival. After the first 2013 selling season the team reported an overwhelming volume of positive feedback on plant quality and packaging.

The Garden Centre, Furniture Showroom and Lemax Christmas Display

Sapcote Garden Centre is one of the larger garden centres in the Midlands. The site combines a sizeable garden furniture showroom (rattan, all-weather, commercial and reclining rattan ranges, available for local and nationwide delivery via the online site), a popular on-site cafe serving cooked breakfasts, lunches, coffee and cake, a Lemax miniature Christmas Wonderland display, a same-day or next-day local delivery service, and a free take-back scheme for old solar lights and Christmas electricals under UK WEEE regulations. Babyplants.co.uk is the plug plant and gardening news arm of this wider offering, with its home page organised around four core categories, Plug Plants, Seasonal Planting, Best Buys and Vegetable Garden, plus a Spring 2018 plug plant comparison and links to its about, why babyplants and customer feedback pages. Together, Sapcote Garden Centre and Babyplants form a typical «family-owned garden centre plus online plug plant nursery» pairing that combines in-person retail with a specialist mail-order catalogue.
