协会简介
新西兰高山花园协会 (New Zealand Alpine Garden Society, 缩写 NZAGS) 是一个面向高山园艺爱好者的全国性非营利团体, 总部设在新西兰南岛基督城。协会会员遍布新西兰各地, 同时也吸引来自澳大利亚、欧洲和北美的国际爱好者加入。
历史与宗旨
协会创立于上世纪六十年代, 至今已有六十余年历史。其宗旨是推广高山植物的栽培知识, 促进会员间种子与经验的交流, 并通过野外考察活动让人们欣赏新西兰独特的原生高山植物群落。
主要活动与刊物
协会每年出版两期 Bulletin 期刊, 内容涵盖本地及异国高山植物的栽培方法、原生种野外分布与园艺展示。每年的 Seed List 是会员之间分享种子的重要渠道, 其中不少种子来自野外采集, 在商业市场上很难获得。
春季花卉展与植物博览会
每年春季, 协会都会举办 Spring Show 春季花卉展, 展出会员种植的各类高山植物并进行评展。2026 年的 Botanical Expo 植物博览会定于 9 月 26 至 27 日在基督城 Lincoln Event Centre 举办, 由新西兰高山花园协会、坎特伯雷园艺学会、坎特伯雷兰花协会与基督城盆栽协会共同主办, 汇集五大主题展览: NZAGS 春季高山花卉展、坎特伯雷园艺学会水仙花评展、坎特伯雷联合花卉艺术团体的插花展示、兰花展与盆栽展, 现场另设稀有植物销售区, 汇集新西兰本土原生高山植物以及来自世界各大洲的球根与林下植物, 评展环节涵盖龙胆属、雏菊科等高山植物的栽培技艺与展示美学, 是会员交流心得的重要平台。现场活动安排包括 Julia Atkinson-Dunn 主旨演讲 (周六下午 2:15, Eventbrite 预订 10 新西兰元)、贯穿全程的缝隙花园搭建演示, 以及 Win a Garden Visit 抽奖活动 (点赞协会 Facebook 或 Instagram 帖文即可赢取 Christchurch 周边顶级私家花园的私人导览机会, 最多可携九位同伴)。
会员福利与野外活动
会员可获得 Bulletin 期刊、Seed List 种子目录、Portfolio 作品集和 Library 借阅服务。协会还不定期组织野外考察, 带会员前往新西兰南阿尔卑斯山等地, 实地观察龙胆属、雏菊科等原生高山植物的自然生境。
About the Society
The New Zealand Alpine Garden Society (NZAGS) is a national non-profit organisation for alpine gardening enthusiasts, headquartered in Christchurch on New Zealand’s South Island. Its members include hobbyists and collectors from across New Zealand, as well as Australia, Europe and North America.
History and Mission
Founded in 1964, the Society has more than sixty years of history. Its mission is to promote the cultivation of alpine plants, facilitate the exchange of seeds and experience among members, and organise field trips to appreciate New Zealand’s unique native alpine flora.
Publications and Activities
The Society publishes the Bulletin twice a year, covering cultivation techniques for native and exotic alpines, wild habitats and horticultural displays. The annual Seed List is a key channel for members to share seeds, many of which are wild-collected and rarely available commercially.
Spring Show and Botanical Expo
Each spring the Society holds its Spring Show, where members exhibit and judge a wide range of alpine plants. The 2026 Botanical Expo takes place on 26 and 27 September at the Lincoln Event Centre in Christchurch and is jointly organised by the New Zealand Alpine Garden Society, the Canterbury Horticultural Society, Canterbury Orchids and Christchurch Bonsai. The Expo brings together five themed shows: the NZAGS alpine Spring Show, the CHS Daffodil Show with judged exhibits, the Combined Canterbury Floral Art Groups’ arrangements, an orchid show and a bonsai display. A rare-plant sales area runs alongside, featuring New Zealand native alpines alongside bulbs and woodland plants sourced from across the world; judging covers cultivation technique and display aesthetics across genera such as Gentiana and Celmisia, and is a key forum for members to exchange experience. On-site highlights include a keynote address by Julia Atkinson-Dunn on Saturday at 2.15 pm (Eventbrite booking, NZD 10), a live crevice garden build running through the weekend, and the Win a Garden Visit promotion (like the Society’s Facebook or Instagram posts for a chance to win a private guided tour of a featured Christchurch-area garden for yourself and up to nine friends).
Membership and Field Trips
Members receive the Bulletin, the Seed List, the Portfolio and access to the Society’s Library. The Society also runs occasional field trips to alpine areas such as the Southern Alps, where members can observe gentians, celmisias and other native alpines in their natural habitats.
