Founding and Leadership

WALFiLii was founded in 2007 by Filip Engels, a Belgian nurseryman based in Kapellen, Antwerp Province. While raising specimen trees and solitary shrubs at his own nursery, Filip could not find planters and pedestals large and refined enough for his stock, so he began producing them in his own workshop. Today Filip Engels serves as CEO, and the brand continues to build planters, fire plates, water elements, herb containers and pedestals by hand from its base in Kapellen.

Materials and Custom Options

The core materials are lacquered stainless steel and corten steel, with extra reinforcement and refined finishing to make the planters frost-resistant and durable for both interior and exterior use. Every planter is built to order, and clients can specify integrated lighting, drip irrigation, raised bottoms, variable rim widths, insulation, hidden wheels, anti-graffiti treatment, and laser-engraved logos or text. The full RAL colour range is available, from natural matte to high-gloss. Beyond planters, WALFiLii also designs fire plates, herb containers, pedestals and outdoor trolleys.

Product Lines and Stock Items

WALFiLii products fall into eight ranges: Planters, Corten Fire Plates, Water Elements, the corten Outdoor Trolley, Pedestals, Herb and Vegetable Containers, Hedges planters for tall greenery, and Specials for bespoke commissions. The current stock list holds more than twenty pieces, priced between €290 and €2,044.19, covering dimensions such as 50×50×130 cm, 80×80×80 cm, 100×100×140 cm, 140×140×60 cm, and 200×200×40 cm. Materials include corten steel and coloured stainless steel, and most pieces can be repainted or fitted with extras such as wheels or subdivisions.

Sister Companies and Outdoor Living

WALFiLii belongs to a group of Belgian horticulture companies. Its sister brands include GROEN for garden landscaping, DE ROODE HOEVE for plant nursery stock, and BOTANOLARGO for ornamental tree production. Together with these partners, WALFiLii runs an Outdoor Living service that combines planters with outdoor furniture, decking, water features, outdoor kitchens, parasols and patio heating to create complete garden and terrace spaces across Belgium and abroad.

Projects and Clientele

WALFiLii serves private gardens and roof terraces as well as high-end commercial buildings and public spaces. Architects, garden designers and property developers use WALFiLii for projects such as Botanic Textures coloured planters, Knokke seaside commissions, Zoute Strand summer pieces, and La Réserve hotel installations. Price enquiries are submitted through the website contact form or by email, and the Kapellen workshop prepares a tailored quote based on the requested material, colour, size and accessories.
