工作室由 Daryl Toby 创立,以”specialized landscape design + build studio with expertise in crafting unique garden spaces accentuated by stone settings, sculptural elements, water features and fire”为核心业务描述,明确将石头布置、雕塑元素、水景与火景作为四大设计要素。
在项目组合上,AguaFina 官方案例库收录了 steel + stone、meditative space、pura ‘vista’、moon gate courtyard、floating entry、garden for the senses、mid-century refresh、rooftop escape、wood’s edge、forest oasis、living fire、lakeside retreat、estate lagoon、scribed steps 等二十余个具有代表性的私家庭院与商业景观作品。
About AguaFina Gardens International
AguaFina Gardens International is a specialized landscape design + build studio headquartered in Sylvan Lake, Michigan, USA, dedicated to crafting unique garden spaces that integrate stone settings, sculptural elements, water features and fire. The studio operates as “a land art studio,” serving the greater Detroit area and surrounding regions with full-spectrum landscape services from initial concept through final construction.
Founded by principal designer Daryl Toby, AguaFina approaches each commission as a distinct piece of land art, drawing inspiration from architectural details, local geology, and global cultural traditions. The studio is known for blending organic and crafted elements, with a consistent design language that unites Midwest residential gardens with influences from Brazilian rainforests, Japanese formal gardens, and contemporary minimalist aesthetics.
Design Philosophy & The Seven Elements
The studio’s design vocabulary is built around seven natural elements, water, fire, stone, metal, light, flora, and wood, with zen sensibility added as an eighth design dimension. Representative projects include a lakeside garden inspired by a half-radius brick detail on the house, translated into concentric Corten-steel radii intersected with large Hematite and Iron Ore boulders harvested from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, and a living-fire installation where succulents are planted in the crevices of weathered limestone to create striking contrast with flames erupting from stone.
Design Team & Project Portfolio
The AguaFina team brings together designers, an aquatic specialist, a chief technician and lead craftsmen. Founder and principal Daryl Toby is described by Style Magazine as an environmentalist and landscape designer “as comfortable in a Brazilian rainforest as he is in a formal Japanese garden.” Aquatic specialist Matt Niemiec holds a BS in Fisheries and Wildlife from Michigan State University and oversees pond-service operations, while design associate Carlos Medrano, a Michigan State Landscape Architecture alumnus, translates concepts into buildable designs. The studio works in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Mandarin Chinese. Its online portfolio features more than twenty built landscapes, including steel + stone, meditative space, pura ‘vista’, moon gate courtyard, living fire, lakeside retreat, and estate lagoon.
Aquatics Department & Garden Decor
AguaFina Aquatics operates as a dedicated division for pond, waterfall, fountain and aquatic-ecosystem design, installation, maintenance and retail. Services include spring startups, autumn shutdowns, year-round maintenance, filtration upgrades, pump and plumbing repair, and leak detection. The retail pond store carries commercial-grade products from EasyPro, Atlantic Water Garden, Oase, Teton, Microbe Lift and Little Giant, along with aquatic plants, koi, and butterfly koi. The garden decor collection curates stone fountains, lanterns, stone furniture, found artifacts, and bespoke commissions sourced and crafted for the studio’s projects.
