协会定位与使命

“新西兰树木协会”（The New Zealand Arboricultural Association, NZ Arb）成立于 1989 年，旨在满足新西兰树护理与树木产业日益增长的需求。1996 年协会加入国际树木栽培学会（International Society of Arboriculture, ISA），成为该学会下设的第 32 章节（32nd Chapter），延续至今。NZ Arb 的愿景是成为 Aotearoa（新西兰）树木栽培事业的主导声音，推动人树共生的可持续未来；其使命为通过倡议、教育与高水准的职业标准，代表、支持并赋能全体会员。

入会与会员类别

NZ Arb 面向私人行业、地方政府的专业树木工作者与树木管理者，以及科研、培训、相关学生和任何关心环境树木的团体开放申请，会员体系按身份与组织规模分多档。学生会员（Student）面向仍在接受培训的 NZQA 注册课程学员，首年免费，含 ISA 学生会员资格；个人会员（Individual）与准会员（Associate）均为每年含 GST 150 新西兰元，差别在后者无表决权；企业会员（Corporate）按全职人员（FTE）数量分四档（4-6 人 450、7-9 人 600、10 人以上 750 新西兰元/年），可使用 NZ Arb 标识、参加年度爬树比赛及发布职位广告。

专业认证与培训

NZ Arb 协同 ISA 在新西兰推行的主要资质包括 ISA Certified Arborist、Utility Specialist、Municipal Specialist、Certified Tree Worker Climber Specialist、Aerial Lift Specialist，以及行业最高级别的 Board Certified Master Arborist。协会联合 ISA 每年在新西兰不同城市开设 3 天制 TRAQ（Tree Risk Assessment Qualification，树木风险评估资质）课程，ISA 会员 850 新西兰元、非 ISA 会员 930 新西兰元；首次发证 5 年到期的学员须再参加 1 天复训课程续证。

年度赛事与活动

NZ Arb 每年举办由国内与国际演讲者参与的年度会议，常与全国爬树锦标赛同期举行。协会的爬树活动按地区分为北岛与南岛区域选拔赛，胜者进入 Husqvarna 全国爬树锦标赛（NZ Arb Husqvarna National Tree Climbing Championship）；同时开展技术研讨会、田野考察、社交聚会等多种形式活动，并通过 TRAQ 课程持续推动风险评估培训落地。

行业奖项与荣誉

协会设立三项核心奖项：1993 年设立的 Ronald Flook Award 为 NZ Arb 终身成就类最高荣誉，每年度最多颁给 1 人，表彰对新西兰树木栽培事业做出持久且具全国性贡献者；President’s Award 由现任主席酌情颁发，用于表彰通常未被其他奖项涵盖的特别贡献；Volunteer of the Year Award 则关注对协会的志愿服务，2019 年为纪念 David James 的长期贡献而以其命名设立。所有奖项均在年度会议晚宴上颁出，提交截止日期为每年 8 月 30 日。

Mission & Vision

The New Zealand Arboricultural Association (NZ Arb) was established in 1989 to meet the growing demand for a national body representing professional and non-professional people involved in New Zealand tree care and the tree industry. The Association joined the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) in 1996 and operates as the 32nd Chapter of ISA. NZ Arb’s vision is to be the leading voice of arboriculture in Aotearoa, supporting a sustainable future where people and trees thrive; its mission is to represent, support, and empower its members through advocacy, education, and strong professional standards.

Membership Categories

NZ Arb welcomes new members at any time, with categories reflecting diverse qualifications and organisational sizes. Student membership (free for the first year) is limited to trainees enrolled in NZQA-registered arboricultural qualifications and includes complimentary ISA student membership. Individual ($150 + GST) and Associate ($150 + GST) members are open to anyone active in arboriculture or with a professional interest in tree care, with Associate members holding no voting rights. Corporate membership is priced by FTE staff bands: 4-6 staff at $450, 7-9 at $600, and 10+ at $750 (all + GST), and includes NZ Arb logo usage, one regional tree climbing championship entry, and one job vacancy posting per year.

Certifications & Training

NZ Arb partners with ISA to deliver six certification credentials across New Zealand: ISA Certified Arborist, Utility Specialist, Municipal Specialist, Certified Tree Worker Climber Specialist, Aerial Lift Specialist, and the Board’s highest credential, Board Certified Master Arborist. The Association jointly runs the three-day ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) course at least once a year in centres around New Zealand ($850 NZD for ISA members, $930 for non-members, plus GST); holders reaching their five-year expiry must complete a one-day TRAQ Re-certification Course ($480 ISA members / $550 non-members, plus GST) to maintain credentials.

Annual Events & Competitions

NZ Arb hosts an Annual Conference featuring domestic and international speakers, typically run in conjunction with the National Tree Climbing Championship. Regional Husqvarna tree climbing competitions are held across both the North Island and South Island, with winners advancing to the national final. The Association also runs technical workshops, field trips, social gatherings, and TRAQ courses throughout the year, creating multiple touch points for members and the wider tree care industry to engage.

Awards Programme

NZ Arb presents three principal awards each year at the Annual Conference Dinner. The Ronald Flook Award, established and dedicated to Ron Flook in 1993 and broadened in scope in 2006, recognises sustained and nationally significant contributions to arboriculture across tree management, research, education, advocacy, policy, design, nursery, and professional leadership; at most one is awarded per year. The President’s Award is discretionary, allowing the sitting President to acknowledge contributions outside the conventional criteria. The Volunteer of the Year Award, dedicated to David James in 2019, focuses on outstanding voluntary service to the Association within the past calendar year.
