苗圃创立灵感来自家族在威斯康星州的一座 1881 年老农舍及其原有花圃。苗圃的前任屋主在搬离时留下了一丛蕨叶荷包牡丹、一片粉色铃兰和一簇柠檬百合，这些植物至今仍在苗圃的展示花园里延续生长，被园主视作”传承植物的初心样本”。园主在多年亲自试验中逐步扩大种植面积，相继建起温室、拱棚、停车区、堆肥场与示范花园，每年试种约 20 余种新的传承植物，并在 USDA Zone 5 的严酷冬季中观察其耐寒表现，淘汰表现不佳者。
主营品类与传承植物的栽培模式
苗圃主营多年生花卉、萱草、观赏草、藤本植物、高山岩石园植物、鹿抗性植物、蜂鸟与蝴蝶蜜源植物、耐旱植物等十余条产品线，绝大多数品种为种子繁殖，并在田间地栽观察其生长习性后才上盆出售。所有植物均在田间露天栽培（配备自动灌溉系统），模拟自然淘汰过程，因此成活植株具备抵御威斯康星州寒冷冬季与本地病虫害的能力。苗圃同时尝试稀有或被传”不耐寒”的品种，例如 Papaver anomola 白罂粟，能在 Zone 5 越夏持续开花，被归为”试验成功”梯队。
销售模式、季节性休业与配送范围
苗圃采用线上订购 + 田间直销双轨制，每年 6 月 21 日至 8 月 31 日因高温暂停邮寄发货，仅开放苗圃现地销售，以避免植物在运输途中因高温受损。订单统一通过美国邮政 Priority Mail 或 UPS 发出；目前未取得向加利福尼亚州发货的相关许可，因此不支持邮寄至该州境内地址。客户可在结账前通过网站”Contact Us”页面以邮件方式联系苗圃，工作人员仅以邮件形式处理咨询，不再接听电话。

Heritage Flower Farm is a family-owned heirloom perennial nursery located in Mukwonago, Wisconsin, in business since 1998. The farm grows more than 1,000 heirloom perennial plants, many rare and all classic, with a long-term vision of reviving 1940s Victorian garden styles.
Wisconsin Roots and Family Origins
The nursery’s foundation traces to an 1881 Wisconsin farmhouse and its surviving flower borders, including fern-leaved bleeding hearts, pink lily-of-the-valley and lemon lilies left by a longtime previous owner. From that starting palette, the proprietor has expanded the grounds year by year, adding greenhouses, hoop houses, demonstration beds and a working compost operation, while trialing about twenty additional heirloom varieties each season and selecting only those that survive USDA Zone 5 winters.
Crop Range and Field-Grown Propagation
Core categories include daylilies, ornamental grasses, vines, alpines and rock-garden plants, deer-resistant selections, hummingbird and butterfly nectar plants, drought-tolerant varieties and other perennial flowering lines. Most stock is raised from seed or field division, then grown on in the open ground with supplemental irrigation; only plants that demonstrate strong performance under local pests, weather and soil alkalinity are lifted and potted for sale.
Sales Channels and Shipping Schedule
The nursery combines an online mail-order shop with on-site sales at the farm. Mail-order shipping is paused each year from June 21 through August 31 due to summer heat; the farm remains open for in-person visits during this window. Out-of-state orders ship via US Postal Service Priority Mail or UPS, and the nursery currently is not licensed to ship into California.
Wildlife Habitat Certification and Industry Reach
Heritage Flower Farm has been recognized as a Certified Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation, a designation given to landscapes that support birds, butterflies, frogs and other wildlife. The farm’s heirloom perennials have been supplied to institutional gardens including the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. and Canada’s Royal Botanic Garden, and its trial reports and planting notes are shared through the nursery’s website to support home gardeners.
