Sunborne Nursery起步于20世纪70年代，原为丹·斯特罗德（Dane Strodtbeck）家族的养鸡场。丹在加州州立理工大学圣路易斯奥比斯波分校修读园艺学时，机缘巧合下与观赏植物部门总裁会面，获知热带观叶植物繁殖材料短缺，便着手生产生根插穗，Sunborne Nursery由此诞生。1989年迁至旧金山，1991年从种植业务正式转型为批发配送公司。

Sunborne主营高品质室内植物，从加州中部、南部、夏威夷及佛罗里达的优质种植商采购，并实地定期考察（部分供应商每季度一次）精选顶级植株。苗圃配有专职质检专员，每批到货均严格检验，确保植物健康无虫。近年亦扩展至多肉植物和节水耐旱景观植物领域。

Sunborne Nursery is a major wholesale distributor on the West Coast, established in 1975 and headquartered in Richmond, California, specializing in interior plants and decorative containers for commercial clients including interior landscapers, landscape designers, and garden centers.
Nursery History
Sunborne Nursery began in the mid-1970s as a chicken ranch owned by Dan Strodtbeck’s family. While studying horticulture at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, Dan met the president of a foliage division during a class field trip and learned there was a shortage of tropical foliage propagation material. He decided to produce rooted cuttings, and Sunborne Nursery was born. In 1989, the nursery moved to San Francisco, and in 1991 it transitioned from a growing operation to a wholesale distribution company.
Plant Selection
Sunborne sources high-quality indoor plants from premium growers in Central California, Southern California, Hawaii, and Florida, conducting regular supplier visits—some quarterly—to hand-select the best plant material. The nursery employs a dedicated Quality Control specialist who inspects every incoming batch to ensure plants are healthy and pest-free. The business has recently expanded to include succulents and drought-tolerant xeriscape plants.

Sunborne Nursery primarily serves commercial clients across the West Coast, providing wholesale delivery services for interior and exterior landscape projects.
