英国植物园教育网络（Botanic Gardens Education Network，简称 BGEN）总部位于英国，是面向专业植物与自然世界教育工作者的支持型行业网络；现有 300 余位会员，覆盖英国与爱尔兰 40 余家植物园、动物园、树木园、公园与户外教育空间，并不断向其他区域延伸。
核心使命与专业方向
BGEN 的核心使命是’以创新方式把人与植物连接起来’，具体支持方向涵盖自然科学教育、生物多样性、可持续性、访客参与、观众拓展、项目评估与资助等六个领域。
会员服务与年度会议
网络通过线上活动、面对面培训日和年度行业大会等形式，为会员提供专业培训、行业资讯与人脉对接，并设有年度’Gail Bromley Award’奖项，鼓励早期职业人才投身植物教育领域。
治理结构与日常运营
网络由会员组成的三届董事会治理，下设培训、会议、筹款、沟通与会员、治理等专项小组，每年召开四次会议并配合 11 月年度大会举办会员代表大会；日常事务由驻会协调员 Samantha Bowden 牵头管理，并通过 info@bgen.org.uk 与全球会员保持联系。
合作伙伴与延伸影响
BGEN 与英国及爱尔兰植物学会（BSBI）建立长期合作伙伴关系，并参与国际植物园保护组织（BGCI）教育专项协作，已成为英伦三岛植物与自然世界教育行业的核心联络节点。
Network Positioning & Coverage
The Botanic Gardens Education Network (BGEN) is a UK-based specialist support network for professional plant and natural-world educators. It has more than 300 members drawn from over 40 botanic gardens, zoos, arboreta, parks and outdoor education spaces across the United Kingdom and Ireland, and continues to extend its reach internationally.
Mission & Specialisms
BGEN’s mission is to connect people with plants in innovative and engaging ways. It supports educators and community engagers across natural and plant science, biodiversity and sustainability, visitor engagement, audience development, and funding and evaluation practice.
Membership Services & Annual Conference
Members benefit from year-round online events, in-person training days and the annual BGEN Conference, together with curated listings for jobs, internships, volunteering and freelance contracts in plant-based and environmental education. The Gail Bromley Award recognises emerging leaders in the field.
Governance & Day-to-day Operation
The network is led by a member-elected Board serving three-year terms, with standing workstreams covering Training, Conference, Fundraising, Communication & Membership, and Governance. Co-ordinator Samantha Bowden handles daily liaison via info@bgen.org.uk, and the Board meets four times a year.
Partnerships & Wider Influence
BGEN works closely with the Botanical Society of Britain and Ireland (BSBI) on joint professional development, and supports the Botanic Garden Conservation International (BGCI) education portfolio, anchoring it as a key node for plant, garden and environmental learning across the British Isles.
