History
CharMarron Peony Nursery is located in San Jose, California, within the San Francisco Bay Area, high above Milpitas overlooking the Calaveras Reservoir. Originally established as a tall bearded iris grower in 1979, the nursery transitioned to peonies in 2002 due to the tremendous interest visitors showed in their herbaceous peony collection. Following the discontinuation of their iris garden, demand for their new nursery products increased rapidly, leading to significant expansion of their peony cultivation.
Varieties and Scale
CharMarron Peony Nursery cultivates more than 240 peony varieties, encompassing three main categories: tree peonies, herbaceous peonies, and Itoh (intersectional) peonies. Tree peonies begin blooming in late March, while herbaceous and Itoh peonies flower from early April through late May. The nursery’s display garden features over 1000 mature peony plants, creating a spectacular sea of blossoms during peak season. The nursery offers mature 3-5 eye divisions of herbaceous and Itoh peonies in containers year-round.

CharMarron Peony Nursery offers potted peony plants year-round, with bare root shipping available only from August 15 through December 31 annually.
