植物信息在线 (Plant Information Online, 缩写 PIO) 是明尼苏达大学 Andersen Horticultural Library (AHL) 维护运营的免费园艺文献数据库,也是 AHL 长期面向园艺爱好者、学生及专业研究人员提供的核心数字服务之一。该馆位于明尼苏达州 Chaska 市的 Minnesota Landscape Arboretum (明尼苏达景观植物园) 内 Leon C. Founding History and Library Origins
Plant Information Online (PIO) was a free horticultural literature database operated by the Andersen Horticultural Library (AHL) at the University of Minnesota Libraries, and served as one of the library’s signature digital services for plant enthusiasts, students, and professional researchers for nearly four decades. Housed on the first floor of the Leon C. Snyder Building within the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum in Chaska, Minnesota, the Andersen Horticultural Library is a reference-only library specializing in horticulture, botanical art, plant sciences, and natural history. The library was endowed by former Minnesota Governor Elmer L. Andersen and his wife Eleanor, and is part of the University of Minnesota Libraries system. PIO’s plant and nursery bibliographic data were first compiled in 1982, launched as a public web service in 1998, and remained freely available worldwide until its retirement in 2021. Reference lookup is now handled manually by AHL librarians.
