美国 E.F.G.

E.F.G. Orchids Incorporated

E.F.G. Orchids(E.F.G. Everett Dirksen、Blc. Ronald Hausermann 与 Phalaenopsis Wm. Kistler。

植株大多由 E.F.G.

The Jungle Outpost

E.F.G. Orchids (E.F.G. Orchids Incorporated) is a family-run retail orchid and tropical plant nursery in DeLand, Florida, USA, founded in 1939. The name “E.F.G.” comes from the Hausermann family — Erwin, Fred and Gus — and the company was originally founded by Carl D. Hausermann and his son Erwin Hausermann Sr. to supply Cattleya orchid cut-flower corsages to florists, brokers, event managers and wedding planners worldwide. In the 1960s the third generation steered the company toward breeding larger, more fragrant Cattleya varieties for the cut-flower trade, making E.F.G. one of the largest wholesale Cattleya cut-flower producers in the United States. Registered hybrids include Cattleya Clark Herman, Lc. Everett Dirksen, Blc. Ronald Hausermann and Phalaenopsis Wm. Kistler. In 1990 the fourth generation opened the firm to retail orchid-plant sales for the first time; in 2002 the Illinois operation closed and E.F.G. was fully established in DeLand, Florida. Fifth-generation member Quinton Hausermann joined in 2017, and the renovated greenhouse reopened to the public in 2011. Online sales are temporarily paused while greenhouse capacity is expanded.

Collections: Orchids and Beyond

The E.F.G. greenhouse holds a far broader collection than conventional orchid nurseries. In addition to its flagship orchid genera — Cattleya, Phalaenopsis, Dendrobium, Oncidium, Vanda, Paphiopedilum, Phaius, Vanilla and Miltonia — the nursery systematically curates aroids (Monstera, Philodendron, Anthurium, Alocasia), Begonia, African Violets (Saintpaulia), ferns, succulents and cacti, gesneriads, carnivorous plants (Nepenthes, etc.), bat plants, bromeliads and tillandsias. Most house plants are propagated on-site from seeds, liners or cuttings, and the team is actively expanding greenhouse space to better showcase the hundreds of varieties in cultivation.

Hybridisation: Four Generations of Named Cultivars

The core of E.F.G.’s identity lies in its multi-generational hybridisation programme. Beyond the classic Cattleya-era names such as Cattleya Clark Herman and Blc. Ronald Hausermann, fourth-generation breeder George Jr. is renowned for his Phaius and Paphiopedilum hybrids. The fifth-generation breeder Quinton has recently released Anthurium ‘Titan Fingers’, ‘Crystal Colossus’ and ‘Titanervium’, as well as a series of Philodendron crosses including (Verrucosum x ‘Red Emerald’) ‘Kipuka Emerald’, ‘Verrubescens’, (Majesty x Jose Buono) ‘Elven Magic’, (Giganteum x Billietiae) ‘Jungle Giant’, (Jose Buono x Billietiae) ‘Billie Buono’ and (Crassinervium x Verrucosum). A 6,400-square-foot pyramid-shaped conservatory greenhouse is currently in design, intended to immerse visitors in a tropical jungle experience.

The Jungle Outpost Annexe

Alongside the greenhouse collections, E.F.G. operates an on-site retail annexe called The Jungle Outpost, managed by George and Quinton. The store stocks pots, growing media, slow-release and liquid fertilisers, and a range of plant-care accessories for the home gardener, functioning as both a natural extension of the greenhouse visit and a stepping stone for E.F.G.’s expansion into the broader houseplant market. The store’s name — “jungle outpost” — echoes the pyramid conservatory’s planned “jungle adventure” visitor experience.

Visit and Hours

The E.F.G. greenhouse is located in the historic district of DeLand, Florida, and is open to public retail visits Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (local Florida time, closed on major U.S. holidays). For current directions, retail stock and visiting hours, visitors are encouraged to consult the official site directly; wholesale cut-flower and event enquiries can also be submitted via the contact page on the official website.
